Subject: ACTION REQUIRED=
: Emergency Bylaw Housecleaning Vote Required
Good evenin=
g, CBCR Committee Members.
In light of the impending State Committee meetin=
g notice, I would like to propose a matter that requires your vote for resol=
ution. While I generally prefer in-person discussions for committee votes, I=
must submit these proposals to the state party prior to the meeting notice =
to ensure their consideration at the upcoming gathering. These matters perta=
in to electing state party officers and are considered routine matters.=
&nbs=
p;
In the =
current Bylaws, there are two (2) BL4.02.03 sections and not a BL4.02.02 sec=
tion, as such:
BL4.02.03 &nbs=
p; Those persons interested in running for a State Officer=
position shall file an "intent to run" statement with the State P=
arty office no later than ten (10) days before the State Committee meeting. =
A non-State Committee Member wishing to run for any office must submit such =
=E2=80=9Cintent to run=E2=80=9D statement with the endorsement of no less than thirty (3=
0) State Committee Members no later than ten (10) days before the State Comm=
ittee meeting.
BL4.02.03 &nb=
sp; Those persons interested in running for a State =
Officer position shall file an "intent to run" statement with the =
State Party office no later than ten (10) days before the State Committee me=
eting. A non-State Committee Member wishing to run for any office must submi=
t such =E2=80=9Cintent to run=E2=80=9D with the endorsement of no less than thirty (30) =
State Committee Members and submit such no later than ten (10) days before t=
he State Committee meeting.
Obviously, this is a mistake that wasn=E2=80=99t caught p=
rior to voting on the Bylaws in 2021 and no one has advised me of such issue=
. Reviewing my old notes from our 2021 deliberations, the two sections in qu=
estion should read as follows:
BL4.02.02 &=
nbsp; State Officers shall be elected ad seriatim and in the fol=
lowing order: State Chair, First Vice-Chair, Congressional District/Co=
unty Liaison Vice-Chair, Constituency Group Vice- Chair, Candidate Recruitme=
nt Vice-Chair, State Secretary, State Treasurer.
BL4.02.03=
=
Those persons interes=
ted in running for a State Officer position shall file an "intent to ru=
n" statement with the State Party office no later than ten (10) days be=
fore the State Committee meeting. A non-State Committee Member wishing to ru=
n for any office must submit such =E2=80=9Cintent to run=E2=80=9D statement with the end=
orsement of no less than thirty (30) State Committee Members no later than t=
en (10) days before the State Committee meeting.
I am not l=
ooking for any changes in the language that was intended to be in the bylaw =
vote back in 2021, but just to clean up what was approved. The missing BL4.0=
2.02 was in the 2010 set of bylaws and it seems I omitted it from the final =
copy that was approved by the State Committee, so I will own this one. =
&nbs=
p;
I would=
like to hold a formal email vote of =E2=80=9CYea=E2=80=9D or =E2=80=9CNea=E2=80=9D from each of you=
to add this to the proposed bylaw amendments already handed over to the Sta=
te Party Chair. I am including some staff on this vote for exposure only and=
so they are made aware that it should be coming to them soon. But heck, sev=
eral of you are party officers anyways=E2=80=A6. 😊
PLEASE =E2=80=9CREPLY ALL=E2=80=9D TO THIS EMAIL WITH A SIMPLE =E2=80=9CYEA=E2=80=9D OR =E2=80=9C=
NEA=E2=80=9D IN THE RESPONSE BEFORE THE END OF THE DAY SUNDAT, FEBRUARY 23RD.
After I receive thew first 13 votes, which is a majority of this com=
mittee, I will send this over to Chairwoman Williams and the staff for inclu=
sion in the output to the State Committee.
I appreciate your time and sense of urgency o=
n this and thank yiou in advance for a speecy response.
Than=
k you!
